Daniel Reisberg is the Patricia and Clifford Lunneborg Professor of Psychology, Emeritus, at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. Professor Reisberg’s research has examined a range of topics within cognitive psychology, but with a primary focus on how (and how well) people remember emotionally significant events. He has served on the editorial boards of many of the field’s journals and is currently Associate Editor for the Journal of Applied Research in Memory and Cognition. He is the author or editor of many books, including the Oxford Handbook of Cognitive Psychology. Reisberg consults extensively with law enforcement and the legal system; that work is reflected in his 2014 book, The Science of Perception and Memory: A Pragmatic Guide for the Justice System.
“[Reisberg] shows a lot of careful thought. It takes the readers through a number of complex topics in cognition, and each chapter tries to tell the whole story, with various twists and turns, without getting stuck on unanswered questions or losing the reader.”
—Kyle R. Cave, University of Massachusetts
“I really like the application essays, the previews and summaries for each chapter, the “test yourself” questions. The images that refer to scientific studies are nice and the science that is included is up to date and interesting.”
—Whitney Hansen, Arizona State University
“Compared to the … book I used most recently, the descriptions of studies and the diagrams (and captions) are much higher quality than I have seen elsewhere.”
—Emma H. Gellar, University of California, San Diego
