Close Reading Workshops
Based on an innovative and proven approach to close reading developed at the University of Texas at Austin, these workshops help students to paraphrase, observe, contextualize, analyze, and create an argument based on their close reading of a short excerpt.
- Each of the workshops focuses on a passage from an often-taught work in the text and includes a series of guided writing prompts.
- The workshops provide students with valuable low-stakes writing practice and can be incorporated into the course in various ways (group activity, pre-paper assignment, additional practice).
