The same technology that we use to navigate our daily lives also bombards us with misleading information designed to confuse, scam, demean, or polarize us. Our students come to us after years of exposure to this misinformation, much of it related to psychology, which complicates our teaching.
To prepare for life after graduation, we must teach students to detect misinformation and recognize how it exploits our fears and biases. In short, we need to teach critical thinking, but a more expanded view than we have considered in the past.
In this complimentary workshop, nationally recognized teacher and scholar Stephen L. Chew defines and operationalizes a critical thinking model for our age of misinformation designed to meet the demands of the present and future.
