Too often we hear instructors say, “my students aren’t engaged” or “they just aren’t reading!” How do you keep students active and interested, especially in a course as important and life changing as interpersonal communication? One answer: make it personal! This session will share classroom-tested strategies for keeping students active and engaged by making core concepts personal in Interpersonal Communication, including:
• Bruce Punches (Kalamazoo Valley Community College), author of It’s Interpersonal, will share how he uses examples from popular culture, media clips, and his own students’ life experiences to create an engaging classroom—and one that’s directly connected to students’ lives beyond the classroom.
• Veronica Mohrmann (Helena College - The University of Montana) will discuss how she uses InQuizitive, a personalized adaptive learning tool, as well as Norton’s instructor resources, to engage students before class and help them learn key concepts.
• We’ll also provide a preview of NortonAI, a new AI learning tool that boosts student engagement and understanding with personalized, self-directed practice and reading support.
