About the Authors
Bruce Alberts is the Chancellor’s Leadership chair in Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of California, San Francisco. He was editor in chief of Science and served as president of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences for 12 years.
Karen Hopkin received her PhD in biochemistry from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and is a science writer in Somerville, Massachusetts.
Rebecca Heald is a professor of molecular and cell biology at at the University of California, Berkeley. In May 2019, she was elected to the National Academy of Sciences.
David Morgan is a fellow of the Royal Society of London and vice dean for research for the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, where he received his PhD.
Alexander Johnson received his PhD from Harvard University and is a professor at the University of California, San Francisco. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences.
Keith Roberts was recipient of the Order of the British Empire for his service to sciences and was deputy director of the John Innes Centre, Norwich. He received his PhD from the University of Cambridge.
Peter Walter is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and is an investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. He received his PhD from the Rockefeller University and teaches at the University of California, San Francisco.
